Terry Fox Run

Ever since I was a kid I’ll remember two things about September: going back to school and the Terry Fox Run. Here is one broadcast story found on CTV that covered the event very well.
The beginning starts off with great visuals of people running in different places in Ottawa, while having a voiceover explaining what the viewer is seeing. There was a nice transition between visuals and interview. In addition, the interviews with the participants and cancer survivors were very effective and interesting.
I think that the best thing about this broadcast was the use of original footage of Terry Fox. I found it very touching considering that I was not alive at the time to know the real Terry Fox. I think it would also have a nostalgia effect on viewers who remember seeing Terry Fox on TV, or in person.
I liked the fact that the reporter did not do a standup. I don’t think that standup would have been necessary and I think that I would have taken away from the story a little bit.
The only critique I have for this piece is on the second interview. I found that the camera may have been a little too high for the interviewee and at that angle it made her look quite short. The shot could have been framed up a little better as well; she ended up right in the centre of the frame.
