This is a story I found on Global News about breast cancer tattoos. When women undergo radiation treatment for breast cancer they place small tattoos in order to mark the precise spots where they will receive radiation treatment.
At a cost of 75 dollars per treatment, breast cancer patients will no longer have to pay to have their tattoos removed.
The story, overall was very well done. The reporter got an interview with a breast cancer survivor who was willing to actually show off her tattoos.
The lead was very effective as well. There was a bit of a delay in the lead that was filled by a statement from the breast cancer survivor explaining all of the different treatments that she went through. At first, the viewer doesn’t really know what she’s talking about, but it is interesting enough that it holds their attention and keeps them wanting to hear more.
There were some good visuals, however one of the main close-ups wasn’t in focus, and that took away from the story a little bit because it was difficult to see the tattoo. Also, this wasn’t a particularly interesting story visually and much of the b-roll was very boring; however the camera person did try to get some more interesting visuals.
