I thought that this video, found on Global News, was very well shot and interesting. The reporter did a lot to keep the viewer’s attention throughout the whole video; however there were a few things that I feel he could have done a bit better.
First of all, I really liked the lead, and the script in general was short, to the point, and fit very well with the visuals. The interviews were very interesting; especially the one with the Muslim man who disagreed with the Mosque being built. The interviewee also provided more information about the inconvenience that the Mosque will cause the surrounding neighborhoods.
Not only that, but there was also got an interview with someone who appeared to be of a Christian background who said that she doesn’t really care about the Mosque being built. They reporter also got an interview with the Mayor explaining the process of how the process behind the building.
The one thing about this video that I didn’t like, was the lack of interesting visuals. It is difficult for this kind of story, where there really isn’t anything solid to shoot, however showing the computer generated photo of the Mosque three times was very distracting and could have been done better.
I think that I standup would have really improved this video because clearly there was not enough b-roll.
