I have to agree with you Rachel; the Kardashian story is news but I think for different reasons than mentioned here.

First of all, it does really sound like a scam. After watching the video that you linked, I think that the New York Post headline says it all. But instead of hearing about all of the tabloid gossip that almost always follows something like this, I would be more interested in hearing about how this couple profited from this event.

As mentioned earlier, both parties profited a lot over this marriage, and likely through this divorce. In my opinion, that is the news here, not the fact that they are getting divorced. The talk about the divorce should stay on websites like Perez Hilton, and not in the mainstream news media.
