Editing This Week
This week I will be the editor for 519 Online News and I have to be honest; I’m very nervous. Last week we had a lot of unforeseeable technical difficulties with Final Cut Pro, which resulted in lots of work for the editor, and a late broadcast. I am not looking forward to having to stay late editing but I think that’s what is going to happen. The last time I stayed late was when I was producer, and that was a very long day to say the least.
The good news is that I think I’m prepared. I am confident enough in my limited editing skills that I’m sure I’ll be able to get it done. I just hope that reporters can get their stories in on time and that they don’t have too many issues with Final Cut Pro or exporting.
I was a camera-person this past week and I had many problems with the program; although that was frustrating at the time, it was a good thing. Now I know how to export video through a different program if Final Cut Pro decides to act up again.
I’m still unsure as to whether or not I want to focus on my on-camera skills or my work behind the camera. I’m interested in both, but still cannot decide what I like best. Perhaps my experience as editor this week will help clarify things for me.
